What is Rehashing?

Rehashing, at its most basic definition, is a way to swap your clothes with others. To "Rehash" is to place an item (a Rehash) up for trade. Others can see your items and offer you their items in exchange for something you have that they like. If you like what they're giving you, accept the trade and you'll be wearing new threads in no time.

How much does Rehashing cost?

Zero dollars. We don't charge you a penny to use the site. The only cost to you comes with shipping (where applicable), and that's something settled between traders. Rehash Clothes has no posting fees, so you can Rehash as many items as you want and not have to worry about site usage fees.

I'm in Europe/Asia/Australia/Africa/etc., can I Rehash?

Our services are tailored to North Americans. Outside of North America it is possible to Rehash, however it will be increasingly difficult to trade with North Americans due to high shipping costs.

I'm allergic to green, can I change the colors here?

Pfft, you're not allergic to green. If you don't like the green you can change themes by clicking one of the tiny boxes under the Rehash logo on the top left of the page. There will be more themes in the future.

I gave you my address, what are you going to do with it?

When you accept a trade with a user where you have agreed to trade by mail, you will need to provide your mailing address. We give this information to the other user and in return you receive theirs. No one else has access to this information.

How do I edit my profile?

In the My Profile drop down menu up there on the top right of your screen there's an option that reads Edit Profile. To edit your account options, use Edit Account.

How do I integrate my Flickr account into Rehash?

Currently, this is disabled. We hope to have it back up soon. You can still add photos to your gallery by going to My Gallery in the My Profile menu.

Why am I not getting e-mail notifications?

Some e-mail hosts don't feel like playing nice with us and decide to send our mail to your spam folder. If this is happening to you, it would help if you let us know by posting in the bug reports forum. A quick remedy is to tell your mail client to allow mail from "do-not-reply [at] rehashclothes.com" or add that to your address book. We're working on fixing these issues as we encounter them.

How can I stop getting e-mail notifications?

In the My Profile drop down menu up there on the top right of your screen there's an option that reads Edit Account. Once there, you can toggle e-mail notifications.

How do I Rehash an item?

View the how-to guide to learn more about how to Rehash. It's pretty simple though.

How do I edit/delete one of my Rehashes?

You can do that from your profile in edit mode, also from the Rehash ad itself, from the Trading Post, and from the My Rehashes option in the My Profile drop down menu. We gave you lots of options.

How can I make an offer?

Just drag and drop what you're offering into the box labeled "Drag items here", and then drag and drop what you want from them into the same box. You can do that from the user's profile or by clicking "Make Offer" directly from their ad. You can get more info from the how-to guide.

Help! I made an offer and my Rehash disappeared!

It's still in the system, we just mark it so you can't offer it up to anyone else, nor can you receive offers on it, essentially making it "disappear." This prevents people from making offers all willy-nilly left and right and needlessly disappointing people. If your offer is canceled or declined, your Rehash returns right back to where it was.

Why did the other person decline my offer?

Try not to take it too personal, it could be for a lot of reasons. Your item isn't their size or style, maybe they think their item(s) warrant more/less than what you're offering. Usually when they decline they'll let you know why, but if not you can politely ask them why they decline. Don't harrass them about it though, that's against our Terms of Service and an easy way to get the boot.

What do I do to accept an offer?

When viewing an offer, at the bottom there will be three buttons: Accept, Negotiate, and Decline. They're pretty self explanatory. Once you accept, you'll need to specify whether this trade will take place locally or by mail. Obviously, if you don't live near each other the choice is by mail. Follow the instructions outlined therein. You'll receive periodic updates of the trade's progress as it goes on.

I accepted an offer, but I've changed my mind, how can I fix this?

Yup, just click the red "X" in your My Trades trade manager belonging to the specific trade you want to cancel. Be aware that you can only cancel a trade as long as neither of you have shipped your items!

How does negotiating work?

If you receive an offer that can almost work but needs a little tweak, you can negotiate. Just click the big negotiate button at the bottom and it will clear your trade and allow you two to come up with a better arrangement. Once you do, create a trade again by offering up the items you decided on.

I shipped my item(s) and the other person says they did too. It's been a while and I still haven't gotten them! What can I do?

Hopefully it's just the couriers who are taking too long in delivering. If it isn't, it's time to report some Bad Karma for the other user. We'll try to rectify the situation, but we make no guaranteed nor are we under any obligation to do so.

I'm actually looking for something in specific, where can I go for that?

You can post wanted ads as well as Rehashing items. You can do so here.

I had a great/bad trade with someone, how can I let everyone know?

After a trade has been officially completed, you and the trader will have the option to rate each other's experiences. The user user cannot modify or delete what you wrote about them. From the My Trades area, there is a menu on the right with an option to view Completed Trades. From there, you can rate the other trader. Only after a transaction can someone be rated, this prevents abuse of the system.

Where can I see someone's Karma?

When a user has Karma, it can be seen from their profile. Viewing detailed information will show their complete Karmic history as well as details. Karma can be quickly found if you know the person's screen name by going to http://rehashclothes.com/karma/screen_name or from their profile.

I hold swap parties in my city, can I use this site to put the word out?

Absolutely. We encourage swap party hosters to join Rehash and get their members to join Rehash. We'll even provide you with a special group with more options than regular groups, and your swappers will not only be able to post Rehashes to trade online, but they'll be also able to showcase items they'll take to your swap parties. Think of it like an online pre-swap party. In addition to that, you'll also receive site-wide promotion to members in your vicinity. By the way, like the rest of Rehash, it's free. Contact us directly at rehash@orpheuxdesign.com for more information.
