Fusing power pop, glam rock, and new wave, Los Angeles-via-London rocker Billy Tibbals builds on the legacies of his former and adopted hometowns with glittery panache. Part of the L.A. scene that also features the Lemon Twigs and Uni Boys, Tibbals introduced his way with jangly riffs and harmony-laden hooks with 2022’s single “Onwards and Upwards/Lucy,” then worked with the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson on the 2023 EP Stay Teenage, which reflected the influence of David Bowie, T. Rex, and Sparks on his music. With 2024’s Nightlife Stories, Tibbals presented an even sharper-edged incarnation of his rock ‘n’ roll fantasies.
