This is a swap site!! I absolutely love the idea of swapping and personally get really annoyed when people ask me to buy thier things. I see a lot of rehash posts where it says “What I want in return” only going to sell this item for$_. CRAP!! I wish people would continue to use this site for what it was originally planned. Don’t use this site if you want to sell all of your stuff. Don’t post rehash posts claiming you are putting all your stuff on Ebay. If thats how you feel, then get off rehash and put your crap on Ebay!!! I’m sorry to be rude, I don’t like to be rude, but lets continue to keep rehash alive :-)

I personally don’t mind, and would like the person to send me a cash offer if they don’t like any of my things. I’d rather swap, but if I like the item enough and the price is reasonable, I don’t mind buying. I guess you could add a note to your profile saying that you’re here to swap, and not to buy. I think most people on here read profiles before sending an offer.

I’ve had the same problem. If $$ came up during a negotiation, that would be one thing, but when people message you out to the blue asking you to buy it, that’s when it gets annoying. I think there are a good bit of new people or people who choose not to remember that you must include a trade option if you have $$ listed as what you want.

I dont mind, I too like the option of purchasing an item if they don’t see anything of mine that they need or would like to swap for. I’ve also let people know I’m selling when I do and let them know how low my prices are, in case they might want it for that price.

I always always offer a sell price if there isn’t anything I would like to swap for. I have bought and sold quite a few things on swap sites. Obviously I prefer to swap but I am not above selling or buying, especially if I (or the other swapper) REALLY wants the item! I think it’s more polite to offer a sale than just decline with no response. I think the reason some people take offense to sale offers is becuase they have over-valued their own swap items and are offended if the other person doesn’t want them. JMHO.

Sorry, I think I might have been misunderstood. If you have a sale option, that’s fine and if you and the other swapper agree to sell then that’s fine too. I’ve done that. What I was saying, which I think is the same as jazziesmama, is when people just send you a message saying something like “Hey, you’re watching my item. Want to buy it for $X?” and there has been no discussion on trading. Or the girls who point blank say that they are here to sell. That’s what annoys me.

eh, I don’t see the big deal. It means they looked through your swaps and didn’t see anything. Just decline politely. I have yet to see any strict rules (like MUA has) against selling.

The only policy Rehash has in place as of right now is that trades may not be listed as “selling only”.

I very much agree with what kristin has said in full. I get a lot of those messages and I am just really irped. I have made 2 cash swaps in which I was paying money for a “must-have” item, but I think I instigated the cash swap becasue I wanted the item so badly. I am glad that there is a policy! :heart:
