This is my first time ever trying to sell things online. I’ve got a webstore, etc. I just need help drawing in customers. My prices are low and negotiable. Any tips from those who have done some online business is very appreciated! Interlachen, Florida |

Hi Rebecca! It is VERY tough to sell used clothing online. I have been doing so for four years now, and I have found that the place that starts with “e” and rhymes with “fleabay” is the best way to make any kind of sales. They have the traffic as well as the “trust” factor, but unfortunately they also have high fees for sellers. There are other established sites you can try, and I also have my own site set up, but they are waaaaaaaaaay behind in actual sales to that other place. Some things you can try would be to submit your site to search engines and google base, be sure to use good keywords in your titles and meta tags (if you have your own site and can access and edit them). Also be sure to post your URL anywhere and everywhere, use it in your signature on forums, emails etc. This is typically a very slow time of year for sales as so many people are vacationing etc. Things should start to pick up around mid-August or so. If you have more specific questions, let me know and I’ll be glad to help you out as best as I can. Good luck!!! |

Honestly, I have had nothing but terrible luck selling used items on fleabay. You never get what anything is worth and you pay fees and commissions. BLAH. In the four (4) months I have been on Rehash, I have have 100 times better success and joined a terrific online community. On the other hand, if you are creating or upcycling clothing and accessories, I have heard nothing but good things about Etsy.com. Lomita (near Los Angeles), CA |

Grace gave me a few tips on the used clothing. I love the idea of Etsy, but I don’t make enough things to really hit it off there. Do you have any tips on wording to make ads more attractive? Interlachen, Florida |
