I went to mail off a mostly liquid package today and got turned away due to the contents being flammable and hazardous. has anyone else had this problem? If so, how do you go about shipping perfume?

according to the rules and regulations, you can ship small, harmless, cold-blooded animals (except snakes and turtles) that do not require food or water or attention during handling in the mail and that do not create sanitary problems or obnoxious odors (e.g., baby alligators and caimans not more than 20 inches long, bloodworms, earthworms, mealworms, salamanders, leeches, lizards, snails, and tadpoles).

or

Disease-free adult fowl may be mailed domestically when shipped under applicable law in accordance with 1.7. Adult chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl, doves, pigeons, pheasants, partridges, and quail as well as ducks, geese, and swans are mailable.

but not perfume or scabs. :|

This has happened to me before, I get to the counter, they ask me if there is anything liquid, I say yes, there is perfume, scented oil, etc., and they say I cannot mail it. Unfortunately, the only way I can get around it is to pack the item very tightly so the sloshing of liquid is not heard, and say, no, no liquids. >:-D

Or, if you have one of the automated postal machines at your post office, you can mail the package from there, no one talks to you.

And yes, I saw one time a person mailing a small box of baby chickens, they were all cheeping.

Unfort, the only way to get around this is to smile and say No, nothing like that is in your package :) Make sure you tape the lip to the liquid container shut, and pack it tight in bubble wrap and even in a plastic bag to prevent spilling or leaking. I’ve sent perfume lots of times and only once had it leaked. It’s also a good idea to send it in a hard box =]

Whoops, I didn’t even know that perfume wasn’t allowed! I’ve shipped/had it shipped to me before, but now that I think about it, I used the automatic post machine at my post office which is why I didn’t have to lie to anyone. :)

I had a super nice postman let me send a boxfull yesterday, without lying. :) he just stamped liquid all over it and sent it on it’s way. I guess it just depends on what kind of mood they’re in at the time.

usually the postman states that it can only go “parcel post.” this is the longest, but the cheapest. i’ve done it this way, many times.
