I have been encountering numerous trades where the traders are having a ‘crisis’ with family or money and I end up waiting minimum 3-4 weeks but usually more than a month for my package. I’m made to feel that I am the rude one when I ask where my items are ESPECIALLY if the person clicks the shipped button! First off why click the shipped button if you have a crisis and did not ship?! It creates confusion! Also if you are getting so addicted to buying and swapping that you’re too broke to ship then stop swapping PLEASE! I always ship within 2 days of recieving my packages unless we both have an agreement otherwise. So my question is “How long is too long to wait on someone to eventually ship to you?” I honestly feel that 2 weeks is a maximum and anything more is ridiculous UNLESS that trader has talked to you personally and you have an agreement on your shipping dates.

i guess it all depends on how long it takes. people do have issues and things that come up, it happens to all of us. however, more than two weeks is outrageous.

ps- i tossed the pink sailboat top into our swap due to MY shipping being a bit off. :)

Personally, I think that shipping should be done within a week of the trade, unless you have made other arrangements. I generally don’t have to ship first, but when I do I ship within 3 days of the swap. When I receive an item, I try to ship as quickly as possible and always send messages to say the item has been received and will be shipped out on [date].

I also have recently encountered people who don’t say when they are shipping. After a week I message them, and they say they can’t ship for two more weeks, etc, etc. I think it’s just good manners to establish when the item will be shipped and to ship within a decent amount of time. If plans change, it’s ALWAYS understandable, as long as you notify the person expecting the package, and are not CONSTANTLY delaying shipping!

Basically, I understand your frustration, and waiting more than two weeks to get your package without notification is just ridiculous.

I dont mind the people who tell me they will be late shipping. I mean the girls who dont ship for 2 weeks THEN they click shipped and I wait for a month more and still nothing. Then when I bring it up to them they say they had a crisis and stop being so rude. WTF?! If you dont ship for 2 weeks then you finally clicked the shipped button I assume you shipped so when a month goes by and no package of course im gonna be a bit mad because I think Im getting scammed. Open communication about shipping delays is in no way a biggie to me. I totally understand as long as Im told about it.

1 week max. If they have time to surf the web and make new trades, they have enough time to buy postage online and put it in their mail box. I understand that things come up, but at some point, they should have access to a cell phone or computer to drop you a line and let you know whats going on. But some people prefer going to the post office or do bulk shipments.Yes, I too have seen people post that they have money issues or health issues, so if you are willing to trade with them, you pretty much already know the deal. At any cost, I think those details should be worked out before the accept trade button is pressed. Also, I do not think that anyone should press the shipped button unless the package is either in their mail box or at the post office.

Read their bio page before you look at their items, then go from there. You have to weigh the factors. Is her shirt worth the wait or can you find something just as good some place else?

I think this is legitimate cause for negative karma. It sounds like you were very understanding and that they were trying to scam you.

I’ve waited about 2 months for a sweater once. I guess it doesn’t really bother me as long as there’s good communication. Things can happen and sometimes you just can’t ship or don’t have the time. For example, if a loved one dies, you can’t possibly expect this person to ship out the next day. I usually ship out the week the trade is accepted or the package is received. If I can’t ship, I usually let them know. The one thing I do hate is when they click the shipped button and it’s not really shipped. I’m having that problem right now with someone. It’s been ‘shipped’ for almost a month.

Happened to me recently. I completely agree with you. Person was supposed to ship the first week of February. I contacted her 2 weeks after (she had clicked the “shipped” button) and she told me a story on how she had been unable to ship for whatever reason. Why clicking the “shipped” button, then??? Contacted her again a few weeks after. Result: we’re now on March 18 and I haven’t received my parcel yet, she’s supposed to have shipped it on March 1st… The thing that amazes me is that she only has positive karmas… There’s obviously something I don’t get here.

Isabelle, I think the person you are talking about has told the same story to several people (myself included). Normally I would say negative karma is a last resort, but this girl is scamming people left and right!

that happens to me all the time. some of the swappers i like and know are trustworthy do that. drives me nuts! lol.. I think 2 weeks max. Because i work, i go to the post office once a week, so some ppl may get their stuff quickly and others not so fast, but never takes outrageously long. I can be ok with it taking a while sometimes as long as the person keeps in communication, but I’ve had ppl give me numerous excuses over the course of 2 months which is ridiculous no matter what especially since i saw them on the site all the time. if you have time to spend all day here, you can run up to the post office!!

I have been having issues with the ship button on my trades page… Sometimes if I click on one of the items I am trading for then go back to the trade page it says I have shipped??? I have had this issue several times and I tried making sure to msg those involved in those trades just so there is no confusion. But seriously it does get annoying lol so for the most part I try to just send msgs out right after I get back from the post office saying I have shipped =) AND TO THOSE I HAVE BEEN TAKING RIDICULOUSLY TO LONG TO SHIP OUT TO, I AM SOOO SORRY! I don’t think any of you were talkin bout me or anything (atleast i hope not) but I just thought I would throw that out there… I am horrible with managing money and being unemployed, my only sure source of money coming in doesnt come at the same time every month, which gets annoying and inconvenient as hell but I try my best to keep in touch =)

Keeping my name “clean” is very important to me and the internet is a pretty infinite place to have it put out there as a thief!! TO THOSE WHO SWAPLIFT OR INTEND TO… IS IT WORTH YOUR CHILDREN OR FUTURE CHILDREN SOMEDAY “GOOGLING” YOU NAME AND REALIZING YOU ARE THAT LOW TO ACTUALLY STEAL FROM GOOD PEOPLE?? Just food for thought =)
