I logged in this morning to check over recent activity with the site, and was shocked to notice my karma percentage is down and a recent new rehasher gave me poor karma with no comment other then the default “Victoria was…”. I did receive her end and the condition seemed fine(few loose threads), so I hope that she is not trying to purposefully scam me as she also clearly received her end and I shipped it out fast (USPS: 9101785091401463855173). I sent the items boxed and wrapped, so I can’t imagine damage during shipment, so the only thing I can imagine is she just wasn’t happy with the swap agreement….. is that really accurate to hurt my reputation and is there anything I can actually do? My biggest concern and why I am posting this for advice is because she previously did not respond to any of my messages(from question offers to a friendly ‘your item has shipped, here is your tracking’), so I am a little worried about getting a response for the karma. Ugh, help -Victoria Portland, Oregon |

Hi Victoria, It might be a glitch in the system. I think a few others had the same thing happen to them as well. You might want to ask Orlando about it. If the other rehasher doesn’t answer you back, I wouldn’t worry about it. I know you package everything up beautifully! =) I’m sure that wasn’t a problem. She probably meant to just leave you good karma and this glitch thing put it as bad. TURLOCK, CA |

Hey Mel, I just heard back and it was intentional and because she felt that once complete the trade was unfair… totally outside of my hands and really not my fault… might have to see about getting it reversed because my reputation is hurt just because someone has changed their mind. I don’t know about other people but personally I always read people’s karma whether or not it’s 100%. It seems like a lot of people with 1 bad karma were just unlucky and had a brat on the other end of the deal. If all of your karmas say “Great, great, great!” and then there is one bad unexplained one it wouldn’t keep me from trading with you but would make me think twice about trading with the person who left the bad karma, as I don’t want to get any bad karma myself just because someone is fussy and regretful. |

I agree with you for the most part, but on the other hand the person who left bad karma left it for a reason. It’s possible that out of 100 trades, one is bound to not please the other person. I myself had an issue with this one girl who claimed her jeans were in excellent condition with only small frays on the bottoms. Well I got the jeans only to find out there’s a big ole’ hole in the butt and knee, with another one starting on the bottom of the pants. I confronted her about it and she says “I’m sorry, I should check my clothing better next time, I really didn’t know they were there”. Then she claims that ALL American Eagle jeans come with holes, which is NOT true. Well after going back and forth, she refused to send something else in place of it. I was willing to ship back her jeans (on my dime) for something else. She felt that she was spending way too much money in costs and gave me attitude then refused to fix the problem. Not my fault she misrepresented her item. Well after trying with her, she said “go ahead and leave bad karma if you want”, so that’s what I did. She retaliated and did the same for me, even though we both agreed to not ship out her end. I had all the emails to back everything and sent them to Orlando. This girl is from swapstyle and has had no issues with anyone on here except for me. I was her first trade. I wasn’t lying about the jeans, in fact you can see them on my rehashes because I put them up. Point being, she deserved the bad karma for misrepresentation of her item. I could see if it was a tiny hole or something along those lines…but lots of holes is another story. So if someone doesn’t want to trade with me because of that, so be it. I honestly don’t care. I’d rather trade with reputable rehashers anyways. TURLOCK, CA |

Hey Mel, Victoria, That really sucks. I’m sorry. I know you’re a reputable rehasher and your trades show that. I would definitely save all the emails between the two of you and send them to Orlando. Maybe he can do something about that. TURLOCK, CA |

When people do stuff like that it definitely deserves bad karma. I have actually read your karma in that case and I won’t trade with that person. When people explain bad karma then it is useful. When people leave no explanation it is often just in retaliation. If the trade was really that bad you should be able to take the time to explain why. The type of negative karma you left is something I take into consideration against the person that you left it for. In general, I think it’s really important to read both negative and positive karma. |

I would’ve posted the entire story up under her karma, but it cuts you off after a certain amount of space. I think rehash should change this as well and allow unlimited amounts of space for karma. A couple of lines doesn’t really do the trick. I also think there should be a way for that person to rebuttal underneath the karma you left. They allow you to do this on amazon and I feel it’s a helpful tool. TURLOCK, CA |
