hi! I have a quick question just to gauge people’s preferences here. When I photograph my clothes, I try to take a picture of them being worn, rather than laying on the ground. I think you get a better idea of the fit and proportion on the clothing. I find I get more interest in the clothes that way too.

What do you prefer when browsing for clothes here? Being modeled or on the ground? I ask bc there are a few items I want to see being worn but I am afraid people would think I was a weirdo if I asked for those photos.

i think that is an interesting question…i only have my items laying flat and i can understand wanting to see how something looks with the curves of a body underneath. for me, i wouldn’t mind if someone asked me to, but it would be a pain in the arse to put on all the items and then set the timer on my camera to take the shot and make sure it came out right, etc. not to mention that not everything i have listed will even fit me. i know some other folks rehash other sizes than their own as well. although there is one rehasher, and i won’t mention the name, that does photo themselves in the clothes and it kinda creeps me out, and i don’t find it flattering for either the person or the clothes. just my two cents!!

it’s not me is it!? I crop my head out so you can’t see my make-up-less face and messy hair!

I like to see them at least hanging. Laying them on the ground does it no justice and I am terrible at really picturing things otherwise. I tend to hang mine to photograph. If you notice most of my earlier ones I do have pictures of me wearing them. However, a lot of stuff I have been putting up doesn’t fit me properly so a picture of it on might be relatively useless. I definitely know where you’re coming from, if somebody asked me for a picture modelling it I would not find it strange. Sometimes things look a loooot different once they’re on.

i photograph it on me if it’s my size, bc i agree, things don’t always look the same on a body and on a hanger / the floor. it’s nice to know how long the sleeves are, how much cleavage it shows, if it shows midriff, etc. but, like some others have said, not all my rehashes fit me, so those that don’t i just photograph on a hanger or lying flat.

I use my mannequin in most of my photos, unless I’m too lazy to snap her arms on and off for each piece of clothing to put on her ahha

i like the manaquines too, however i don’t have one. maybe i will hang up my stuff next time i post. and i was DEFINITELY not reffering to you with my earlier post! what gets me the most is pictures that are turned side-ways. for some reason my brain doesn’t even work like that!!

Personally I really don’t like when people wear the clothes to take pictures as everyone’s shape is different. Mannequins are ok because they aren’t full forms. I personally prefer when the item is pictured laid out on the floor because it makes it easy for me to imagine what it looks like on MY frame. As for judging sleeve length, etc, as long as it’s in the “Description” part of the form, it’s very easy to visualize!

When a shirt/dress is laying down it’s harder to see the length of it in ratio to the width, which is a big thing for me. I like dresses that touch my knees, cuz I have those terrible knobby knees and it kind of masks them :)

And mannequins are pretty cheap on Ebay :D
