I would say that the person swapping (person A) with the known swaplifter (person B) should think twice about the swap. There really isn’t a nice way to say “Hey, we had a great trade, but watch our for person B. She’s a known thief.” And like a lot of people have done, person B could be just building up karma so he/she can start stealing again from new rehashers.

That’s what I think, too, Kristin. I think it weakens the community when people choose to swap with known swaplifters. It’s more or less allowing, and dare I say ‘encouraging’, swaplifting. Are there really items posted for swap on rehash that are worth it?

I have to agree with Kristin… I’ve been swaplifted twice by people that I feel were just building up their karma. I was a newbie and had no karma of my own so I had to ship first… I’d hate to see this happen to other people.

I think this is true. Some people just don’t care what happens to other traders as long as they get their end of the trade. It’s sad really.

I Got In Over My Head & Things Were Going Bad With Family Health Issues & Everyone On Here Was Harassing Me So I Deleted My First Profile, I Came Back To Make Amends, I Understand The People Who Have Waited For An Unreasonable Amount Of Time For Their Things Are Upset, But Swaplifters Don’t Come Back, They Take What They Took And Go MIA. Finally an honest answer Kayla. That’s all I ever wanted from you. If you would have told me from the beginning that you just got in over your head I would have understood. I am currently having this going on with another rehasher who is having problems sending me my end of the trade. But she keeps honest communication with me and that’s all I ask for. Instead you just kept telling me that you shipped, you were gonna ship, or that you forgot to ship.

Yes it is but I guess since some people see this as only an ONLINE community they don’t seem to make any sort of human bond.

I know and i apologize, i was kind of embarrassed how long it was taking me to get my stuff out…..i believe me and deborah have worked things out, you’ll recieve your money soon and that will help with us, i have to clear things up with rachel, i apologized to christina for the way i reacted i was just upset about the bikini. This is the first time I think I’ve said anything about Kayla (at least I think it is), so I’m going to say my piece and drop it.

Kayla, you’re right. Swaplifters don’t come back. But honest traders don’t delete old profiles and create new ones so the bad karma they had disappears. The responsible thing that should have been done, IMO, is that once one gets in over their head with swapping, stop accepting offers! Most people on this site understand that life comes up and shit happens. You should have just taken a break (much earlier than now), and made everything right then.

I remember the trades you and I made. The first could not have gone off better. The 2nd and 3rd were terrible. I almost raised a dispute with paypal (which I can’t help but wonder if that’s why you shipped my stuff) because waiting months for a swap is ridiculous. Yes, these are used clothes. But by accepting a swap, you are making a deal with the other person. There is a lot of trust that goes into making these swaps happen. And when someone starts to steal (yes, even used clothes), our trust gets shaken. Without trust, a community like this one can go down the tubes.
