Are very trendy. Cervical cancer isn’t. If you haven’t gotten yours, get it. =) Interlachen, Florida |

I had my 12 yo daughter get them starting last year. I had been reading on them four months before it was released (june of 2006… don’t recall the day, lol) This is remarkable, and there is not one reason that every woman should NOT get it. First, it is the safest vaccine there is. Unlike other vac’s, they do not have to put live virus cells into you… they put the shells of the virus’ in instead. there is no way you can contract the HPV virus from it, however, there is enough information in the shell to create the immunity to it. For those that do not know, HPV is not just cervical cancer, it is genital warts as well. Only a few of the active HPV’s are protected against with this (series of) shots, but a few is a million times better than nothing. I was so let down, my insurance wouldn’t cover it, and I didn’t have the $ for it at the time, and when my insurance did pick it up, I was too old. My Dr. said he can’t give it to me, there hasn’t been enough studies in woman “my age” (bite me, mr. doc dbag) for it to be legal for him to administer, but bet your ass my daughter is protected. I never had trouble as far as insurance when getting mine… and I don’t have insurance. I think it’s for ladies between 11 and 25 or something like that. Either way, it’s worth checking out. I just got home from getting my second one when I wrote that. =P Interlachen, Florida |

Good for both of you. HPV is rampant in the US… something like 70-80% of sexually active men and women have it… most don’t even know it because some of the high risk strains do not produce visible symptoms. The men’s vaccine completed its Stage 3 Trials recently. Hopefully, people will stop being prude and embrace the protection medical science has to offer us! Lomita (near Los Angeles), CA |

i will NOT get guardasil shots. i know that a few girls have actually died after getting them. their lifestyles may have not been the greatest, but i am a vegan so if there’s any chance that i could get sick or injuired, or even die after getting them i just wont :/ please look at this blog that audrey kitching wrote about her experience with the vaccinations..: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=268309&blogId=492423289 Norton, MA |

I’m choosing not to get them. I’m going to wait until there is more research on the long term affects of the vaccine. I’m not at risk for HPV anyway, so I have time to wait for more information. Raleigh, NC |

My mother is a nurse and I guess I should talk to her about this sort of thing though. I never do anything health related without advice from her first. But the thing is…I’m SUPER afraid of needles. Someone would have to make me. Irvine, Ca |

any (sexually active) woman who chooses not to get vaccinated is just plain silly |
