I am a (becoming more of a stay-at-home-wife these days). I am the mother of four(two boys, and two girls) with a passion for fashion, sewing, and fashion in general.
How many times have you seen clothes in an upscale department store or a posh boutique and cringed at the sight of the price tag? I’ve done it many times and have said
to myself, “I could make that”! Share with me in my adventures in taking “boring” patterns from drab to fab by creating “inspired” looks pulled straight from those
boutiques, the runway and fashion magazines. Also my adventure in learning to tailor and couture sewing techniques.
I love beautiful fabrics in rich colors with lots of print or textures. I also like good quality. However, I’m cheap, and don’t like to pay much for clothing. So I
make mostly all of my garments and am having such fun building a fantastic wardrobe…. without shelling out the big bucks!
I love going thrifting these days because I’m learning to see past what things are to what they could become.I love clothes and accessories, mixing and matching to
make new and interesting outfit combinations using fabric that formerly served as a shirt, pants, or blanket opens up the design possibilities infinitely. Imagine the
colors, the textures – and in a quilt, a medium you can wrap yourself in completely. I can hunt for thrift store treasures, and create my own DIY fashion pieces, but I’m constantly cycling new things in and sending the old to Goodwill. Rammage sales, Estate sales, Thrift stores, Garage sales, and Liquidation sales junkie…. I love to buy fabric by the bundle everytime that I thrift….always looking for that overwhelming offers, that leads to some unforeseen treasure at the bottom of the
bin. I’ve always enjoyed thrift shopping but I know for some it’s become a neccesity rather than a choice. But just because you’re shopping at the thrift store rather than
the mall doesn’t mean you have to look any less stylish. For a while now I’ve wanted to expand my vintage shopping horizons. Yes, I frequent all of the thrift stores and vintage stores in my area but I know there’s a whole
world of estate sales and auctions that I’ve never gotten into. I just didn’t know where to begin!
