Hi Sara, if you didn’t use delivery confirmation, then unfortunately, you cannot prove that it was received by the swapper. In this case it will have to be considered lost in the mail. This is always the #1 rule in my book for swapping… ALWAYS USE DELIVERY CONFIRMATION!!! Whether it’s a itty-bitty swap or a ginormous swap, that sticker gets put on every single package that I send out.

Sorry this happened to you!! :-(

ACK! Okay, that may have came off a little snotty, but I promise that was totally not my intention! :-P :-P :-P

On another note: This HAS happened to me before where another swapper sent their item and I never received it. Oddly enough while trying to track down another package that was sent with DC to me and stalled somewhere in the postal system, I located the package at my post office a month later (it had been filed under the wrong name for some reason). So my suggestion is to have the swapper contact her local post office to see if it might be there.

On the resolution side, there are many options, but none are really “required” of either party:

1. The receiving swapper can accept that the item was lost in the mail and cancel the swap. 2. The receiving swapper can ship her end of the swap. (This rarely happens, though). 3. The sending swapper can offer another item for the swap. 4. It can get ugly (Hopefully it never gets here).

Both swappers should definitely agree that this was by no fault of anyone and that negative tokens aren’t really appropriate in this circumstance. But don’t give up hope!! I have received packages over a month after they had been sent!! ;-)

Ya it sucks, I had that happen to me and we just canceled the swap. I was out a pair of sandals but that’s what happens when swapping. Sorry to hear about your misfortune though. :-(

But if something gets lost it should always come back to you… At least for me it has.

Even with DC, I have had packages get lost – the usps site just says that it entered the system, and nothing else. Sometimes the package shows up a month or two down the road, but I’m still looking for one that seems to have completely vanished :(

yes, that can happen!! I’ve seen it happen many times in my years

1. LETTER sized envelopes are not meant for anything but paper, so sometimes, 1 of 3 things happen:

a. it gets crushed in the rollers and is damaged b. it gets crushed in the rollers and rips its enveope, and falls out (the post office guys don’t friggin care, not their problem) c.it gets purposely ripped out of the envelope by post office personel because they know it cannot go through the rollers, or will damage them.

2. PACKAGES rip. when contents fall out, refer to b.
