I was considering rehashing some perfumes and the like on here but I don’t know how you can ship them. I thought it was illegal, actually. And the post office worker always asks me if I have something “liquid, fragile,or hazardous” And I know perfume is flammable so…what’s the deal with this? Thanks! chester, Illinois |

Actually, I’ve told them there was perfume in there and they’ve just stamped it with the “LIQUID” stamp. I think what they mean by flammable is if it’s something that could spontaneously combust (think gasoline, etc). I’ve never had a problem, but it depends on how anal your customer service rep at the PO is. The best way to ship perfume and nail polish is to wrap it in bubble wrap, tape it, then put it in a ziploc. That way if it does break, it won’t reek by the time it gets to someone. Oh okay thanks – that’s a good idea with putting it in a zip lock bag too! :) chester, Illinois |

It is best to wrap the perfume or any liquid in bubble wrap, place in a ziplock baggy by itself, and it’s best to ALWAYS send any kind of liquid in a box, and have it tightly packed, no room for anything to move around at all, and make sure the liquid container isnt able to be knocked against the boxes side(bubble wrap.) Whenever I ship packages, the postal workers never ask me the “Is there anything liquid, flammable, or hazardous in this package?” anymore, since I have a business where I am usually sending out about 35-40 packages a week. They used to though, and I would give them my best smile along with an “of course not” answer. So far, out of ALL packages I have sent, amongst business and swapping, no liquid has ever leaked, and not one of my packages have gone missing either. :) Hope this helps! Blanco, TX |

In addition to the other tips, I would put the perfume between clothes in a box if you’re also trading clothes… It will save you from buying bubble wrap and makes no waste. You could also wrap the perfume/lotion in newspaper or used plastic shopping bags. |
