I’ve gone through all the suggestions, heard all the complaints, and vomited a little in my mouth after reviewing the 5-year-old code that makes up this web site. I’ve decided that instead of patching things up as we go along which has been the status quo for the past five years, I’m going to scrap the whole thing and build it again using everything I’ve learned over that period of time.

Some things to note:

1) The site will not just “go away” like Swapstyle did during their relaunch. They went months without a site, that’s not going to happen here. Instead, I’m going to work on it in my own time and you’ll keep using this until one day, BAM, you log in and it’s Rehash 2.0.

2) All of the data that has accumulated - your Rehashes, pictures, messages, etc. - will still be here when everything is changed.

3) You’re going to hate this place for a few days while you complain about “bring the old Rehash back”, just like everyone does with Facebook every time some icon is changed, and I’m going to ignore you.

4) It’s going to take some time before this happens. Rehash is pretty big and there’s a lot to do and improve upon and I have a lot of other responsibilities to do, so be patient. It may take a few months, it may take a few months + a few months.

5) It’s going to be amazing, I promise.

What about for Androids?

I LOVE the idea of putting comments on items! That would make it easier to see who is interested in my stuff rather then just them “watching” it.

And before I had wanted the iPhone app (I was the one who suggested it) but I am now on the Android market (Galaxy S3, what what!) and am also putting in my 2cents for PRO Android Rehash app! :-P

I’d love to build a mobile app, and I eventually plan to, but first I need to learn how to build mobile apps. And I’ll need to learn on different platforms (iOS is different from Android which is different from Windows Mobile, etc.)

If Sellies takes off then I’d use money from that to hire a mobile developer ;-)

I’d like to suggest Orlando that you send a reminder email or along the lines of “missing you, come back rehash”. It isn’t as active here as before I notice and like others sites have had great luck, maybe it’ll bring back some original members to get swapping on the site again. Thanks!
