I’ve been reading through old posts in the suggestions forum in an effort to improve the site, and I came across this post about privacy. Their concerns are valid, but here’s my side of it. The more data Rehash publicly displays, the better it does in search engine rankings. There was a time a few years ago when if you searched for “swap your clothes” or “trade your clothes”, Rehash would be the #1 result. We’ve slid down to #6 and #11, respectively, in the years since I’ve let this site decay (which I’ll make sure I never let happen again.) Google was by far our biggest source of new members, especially so when we were one of the few swapping services around. Now there are so many I can’t even keep track. I’m trying to improve our search engine optimization (SEO) in an effort to get us to #1 again, which is why I make just about everything that a registered member can see viewable by unregistered members. However, your concerns matter to me way more than our search rankings. I’m going to leave this thread open for a while, and I’d like your input on whether you prefer profiles hidden from unregistered members (and thus, search engines) or visible to everyone. Or perhaps a compromise, like certain info hidden (let me know what). Thanks for helping me make Rehash the best it can be. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

I think it goes without saying that as long as our addresses are hidden from general view. The rest is okay for viewing. If anything becomes a concern I’m sure adjustments can be made. Winter Springs , Florida |

I agree with Isabella. As long as my address ( and maybe even full name) is hidden, I’m a-okay. Saint Petersburg , FL |
