Update: According to a SwapStyle admin, their database wasn’t compromised so your info should be OK. If you had an account at swapstyle.com that used the same username and/or email address as your account here on Rehash, I highly suggest you change your password here. Whoever did what they did to their site surely had access to the database with your personal information. If the SwapStyle developers didn’t encrypt your passwords the attacker has that information along with your email address. This means they would be able to log into any service in which you used that email coupled with that password. Their primary target would likely be the big ones; Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter etc. But more harmful would be them gaining access to your email account which potentially has your online banking and/or PayPal information. I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to change your passwords in those services if they use the same password you used in SwapStyle. In addition, being that the swap community is a relatively small one, the attacker probably knows all about Rehash. I also suggest you change your Rehash password if you had a SwapStyle account, otherwise they may cause you problems here as well. That’s all. And for future reference, try and vary your password from site-to-site. Some places encrypt passwords in the database, some don’t. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

Yeah, seriously, thank you Orlando. It’s so nice to see the owner active on their site. God only knows what happened to swapstyle. Seems they got a bunch of press then just went away. :-( |
