I’m not at all a fan of the money-for-objects transactions that occur here. If I wasn’t such a laissez-faire liberal I would do something about it.

When I first came here it was really friendly and everybody, for the most part of what I encountered, was willing to swap their items, even if they did have a suggested price for someone who would rather buy. Recently I’ve noticed a lot more people who ONLY want to sell. It’s extremely annoying to click on an item that I like to find that somebody wants $20 for a used dress from Charlotte Russe or something. Uhm, I could’ve gotten it new for $20 on sale. That’s not the way this site works, if you want to only sell take it to eBay.

As far as communication go I always try to be friendly and I find that others respond the same. There are a few totally ridiculous people on here though who think they’re hot stuff, in ways it’s pretty funny.

I have one suggestion, I just started doing this because I recently realized how annoying people (including myself) get when there’s no explanation for declining a swap. Instead of hitting decline I hit the negotiate button so that I can write them a message too.

It is is really annoying to see all the people marking their items “for sale only” or “cash only” and showing a staunch refusal to negotiate. That’s why I quit using Swapstyle (before it went offline anyway).

I LOVED the atmosphere when I first started making trades because everyone was both friendly and forgiving. But now, I find myself almost unwilling to even log in because of all the stuff that’s being sold and all the unbalanced offers I’m getting. I’m the sort of person that will “watch” just about anything I’m remotely interested in, but typically can wait for a long time to trade for it. It seems that some people assume if you’re watching something of theirs that you’re obsessing over it and need it RIGHT NOW, and therefore will do anything to get it.

Or maybe I’m just insane. Who knows.

i TOTALLY agree! people seem to think that equal # of items = equal value. it does NOT work that way! like, no, i will NOT give you 2 brand new dresses for 2 pieces of old junk jewelry that i don’t even want that much. and then they get mad when you decline their ridiculous offers!

That happened to me a little while ago too. Someone here really wanted to swap with me and I looked through her stuff and found a dress I liked that she had the option to either trade or sell for $35 shipped, so I figured for a used dress it would be pretty nice. Then I had to fight her tooth and nail to get it even though she wanted a ton of my things, she kept trying to give me her stuff that I didn’t really want AND she kept wanting to give me like 4 of her things for like 9 of mine or something like that. I kept turning down the offer because it was unfair. These were regular clothes, not name brand. Then she told me she really wanted to swap and i said, I want the dress. She finally agreed, but I still gave her six of my things for 3 of hers. I thought because of the dress it would be even, but then it got here and turned out to be a Charlotte Russe tunic tank with pilling at the top. If I wore it as a dress, you could see my butt-cheeks. Definitely nowhere close to worth $35. I was disappointed. Then she wanted my brand new maroon suede heeled boots and asked if I would swap. She had a bunch of shoes for sale only, but I figured since it was shoes she was wanting from me, I would ask her make an exception and swap a pair of her shoes. She never wrote me back and I will not be swapping with her again. She was slow to ship, rude and greedy…and she thinks her crappy thrift store clothes are worth department store prices.

That sucks! :( It’s funny, I do go through the same thing, and I still have reputable swappers even sending me the most obnoxious swap requests, ex: MY juicy couture pants, bebe bikini, and coach bag for so and so’s ed hardy shirt….um…am I the only one who thinks this is not fair? Price and Value are two different things and people should consider how much things have been worn and how much you want them. I mean sure, I would be willing to swap 3 things for one thing I really wanted. BUT it just gets rediculous when people get mad at you for not swapping with them or going with their offer. (I take a note about those for future swaps =)

mzstunna is definitley friendly…and i am too! i do hope you stick around as well. i came over from swapstyle and really like rehash more. at first everyone seemed really nice and whatnot. after being on here since dec 09 i have, of course had my run ins with the rudies and money grubbers and folks who want everything for there junk. we just have to weed them out and stop swapping with them; maybe they will leave. HA, HA!! however, i must say that i have met some folks on here that i have lots in common with and have really enjoyed connecting with them!

I can totally see were you are coming from. I’m not just talking about this site either. On makeupalley its the same. Sometimes they have will only swap this item for this item do not message me if its something else..I totally see posting that but when someone post an item for swap and does not have anything on their wishlist they have replied back to me stating i only swap mac for mac nothing nice. I mean hey how about you update your wishlist or put in the original post you only will swap this item for another mac item…

And I have gotten the “nope sorry” answer there as well nope sorry what you wont trade for this or do not see anything on my list are you looking for anything else?

I tend to try and avoid people who’s notepad is not set up over fully. Especially pictures and stuff. I feel better swapping with someone who has some tokens, and replies back with a simple hello and signs there name..
