I figured since this was a green site, some of you might be interested in this:-)

Matter of Trust is collecting hair and nylons to soak up the oil that has spilled in the gulf.

You can watch this youtube video to see how it works: Hair Soaks Up Oil Spills

It can be pet hair, your hair, etc.

It doesnâ??t need to be any particular length, It just needs to be able to be stuffed into the oil sucking socks they are creating.

Here is a link on how to get involved: Matter of Trust

If this all ends up going to the hands of people with some creepy human hair fetish I’m going to be so pissed.

If they are, too bad – I’m sending pet hair in – my cats are getting lion cuts.

haha, We gave our dog a lion cut too! ...but I did a bad job. My husband said it looks like when a kid tries to cut its own hair.

Oh well, its for a good cause and our dog doesn’t seem to care :-p

By the way – you can also send in the LINT from your dryer – who hasn’t got TONS of that?!

You guys have to watch this video:

Oil spill déjà vu… an eerily similar spill happened on June 13, 1979. Essentially, the same things happened 31 years ago (including same techniques to stop the oil) and that leaking well (the Ixtoc) wasn’t able to be plugged for nine months. Oh and the Ixtoc was in about 200 feet of water, in contrast with the one leaking now 5,000 feet under the surface. We’ve only gotten technologically better at drilling deeper, not at preventing leaks and dealing with them.

Thats pretty interesting… There needs to be a huge reform with how drilling is done.
