there is so much speculation about what is going to happen in 2012. and it is a huge topic of discussion at my house. i have a thought and hope and my husband’s isway different. so, it got me thinking and wondering about what other people might think, hope, speculate, etc. i kinda thought it would be cool to have a place to talk about it since there seems to be such a wide varience in thoughts on the topic.

After following the Mayan Calander for years, and studying a wide variety of schools of thought, I came to the personal belief that, 1. Yes, the planet and it’s people are going to go through some major suffering and distruction. 2. Those of us that are left to rebuild what we have will have the understanding of what we did that put the planet at risk. and that we will (if time is a spiral and we have reached the center, will go backwards, so to say) go back to our roots. we will realize we need less of this junk, less material bs. and will some day clear the rubble of our land, body, and mind and get back to more of an enlightened hunter-gather tribe! (possibly with the help of our universal neighbors ?)

OK, now, go ahead and call me crazy…and i know it has nothing to do with the site…

Sensationalism. Everything will be status quo. It’s just an arbitrary end to a calendar, and it had to end at some point. It ends on a nice round number, 13.0.0.0.0 (13 b’ak’tuns, 0 k’atuns, 0 tuns, 0 uinals, and 0 days), which is no coincidence and simply a pretty standard convenience.

It’s like if you were making a very long calendar, would you end it on April 9, 4287 or would you just go with January 1, 4000? If you want to mess with future people’s heads then go with the former. It only looks odd when converted to our modern Gregorian calendar.

The world was supposed to end so many times already in my lifetime.

**Not sure what is really going to happen there are so many different speculations. I will say that whatever is going to happen I already see it in people; I have cut ties with so many in the past year lately i notice that people are just so ignorant, uncaring and non trustworthy anymore. My manager and I speak of this often he said people are out for themselves and he believes they all believe or think the world will end. I think the world is going to have a shift as it has already started with the past tragic events such as the Earthquake in Haiti, the Earthquake & Tsunami in Chile, Earthquakes & Floods in Japan & other parts of Asia & France, The Horrible BP Oil Spill that is still not under control, The mass killing of Uzbeks in Kyrgyztan, The rebellion and bombings in Thailand and there are more…..Now we have tragic things happen every day for the past MANY years but what is listed above is for 2010 so all that i can think is that this is caused from a shift and when the EARTH shifts there are toxins and gases that are deep down inside the earth and these are released so people breath them in and this effects them. ;-)

It’s already the year 5771 on the Hebrew Calendar. Also, the Roman calendar went though many changes, even adding in months/changing their names after Cesar and Augustus were in power. I agree with Orlando. All calendars are different and some just end earlier than others :-P

I don’t necessarily believe that Dec. 2012 will be the exact time of the ‘end of the world’...but the Big Bang Theory does fascinate me. The retracting theory of the universe is…a compelling argument. Not saying it’s true, Science has failed before, as has Religion. (Sorry) Religious fanatics say that there is some passage in the bible that proves the date of the end of the world, but nowhere have I actually seen anyone quote this passage. I’m more in between…the scientific idea of the end of the world fascinates me, but not enough to actually believe it.

So many strange and some horrible things have been happening around the world within the last 10 years. Weather is changing greatly, more countries are in war, etc. Someone told me about a year ago, world war 3 has already started…we havnt said it yet, but when they write about it, they’ll tell that it started now.

exactly, that is why I lean more towards the new begining. We are very lucky to have access to all of the information that we do. To have so many different schools of thought to draw from. And for us to have the freedom to believe what we want to.

And I also agree with Christina. There is a major shift that has already begun, and we witness on a daily basis our human race distroying each other and the planet going into some type of self-distruct mode. Something is going to happen. I am so glad to have started this thread. And honored to have you, Orlando, comment on it!!

This is my area of expertise =D. Yes there are many speculations on what will happen. One theory is that in 2012 solar flares will be at their highest. These solar flares will be powerful enough to knock out our satellites as well as our entire power grid for months even years.

Another major event that it said to happen is the alignment all the planets with the sun. Such an alignment could cause a pole shift causing major natural disasters.

Another idea that I’ve heard is that that will be the day thousands of space ships will come and take all the enlightened human beings and leave the rest to take part in a war over earth. This comes from the speculation that earth is being governed by a race of reptilian aliens and other enlightened beings are trying to free us from their grasp. This actually makes more sense to me than any religious concept. Though I don’t intend to offend anyone’s faith.

Another idea that ties in with enlightenment is that the 3rd, 4th, and 5th dimensions will begin to merge together creating a high vibrational frequency. Those who cannot handle the vibrational frequency will perish.

I’m very open minded and will not accept or dismiss any of these ideas until I experience them myself, so I guess I will just have to wait =D.

OMG i am not a mom yet but i have had a horrific past with pregnancy long story short had an ectopic was going into my 4month well my tube basically exploded and i almost died (seriously Dr. did not think i was coming off the table; 4% blood count). So the one thing i want to be is a mom in my life but I think about the way the world is and not being able to know what will happen next and if i had a child what about them…Its so scary it sad! I work for the government well when teh tragic shift in Haiti happen some of my technicians were sent there with our mobile tower and this kind Haitian man offered to be their translator (FOR FREE) well he sat down and said i just lost my entire family (wife and daughter died in his arms, son died in the rubble) he said it differently but point is he said he had nothing left but his passion which was teaching and helping others. Make you think!
