Since the holiday season is upon us, which means it’s time to wrap presents! I’m thinking about doing everything in reusable grocery bags, but that’s also because I can’t think of anything else. So, what are you going to use?

I also found this site with some ideas. http://life.gaiam.com/article/top-10-green-gift-wrap-ideas

Good topic! I typically use newspaper, but it looks a little plain. Last year I tried to spice it up by making snowflakes from newspaper and affixing them to my newspaper-wrapped boxes… it didn’t come out as well as I’d hoped. This year, I may try that again with a few tweaks, if I don’t think of something better

I was actually thinking of making this: http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2010/07/how-to-make-gift-bags-from-newspaper.html

Gift bags out of newspaper. Let’s see how well that turns out. I’m hoping to write an article here on rehash on what to do with left over wrapping paper. Any ideas?

yey, this IS a great topic! here is what i have done in the past and what i am going to try this year:

1. save your wrapping paper yearly and use last years scraggly paper to wrap your stocking stuffers. 2. wrap gifts in old clothes and tie with ribbon 3.save your coffee cans and bigger boxes and paint on them. 4. use reusable shopping bags 5. use brown paper grocery bags and decorate. something like that always looks so well put together when you add a ribbon and a sprig of something-or-other from your yard. 6. “save your cereal boxes and do this, called “gift baxes”: http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/gift-baxes-953479/

Thanks so much for the links! I am definitely going to try those – I constantly have excess newspaper (it comes in every week!), and I’ve been saving my cereal boxes for shipping rehashes.

My family and I sew, so we all see presents that are wrapped in left over fabric pieces!!!

I also keep all gift boxes and gift bags to reuse for all the occassions. I did not wrap one single present this year. I simply put everything in the many boxes and bags that I had collected from last year!!!
