Hiya. Does anyone use chemicals like hydrogen peroxide and baking soda to clean around the house instead more conventional household cleaners?

I use a lot of baking soda and vinegar to clean. Baking soda is slightly abrasive, so it’s great for cleaning the bathtub, oven, stove, etc. Vinegar is fantastic instead of windex, and great for surfaces in general. For really tough messes (in the oven for example), I like a combination of the 2. :)

Kristin, Yes absolutely! I also use baking soda and vinegar it’s great for keeping your sink drains clean and open. Lemons are great for cleaning the microwave and good on your garbage disposal. I don’t know if counts as natural but, toothpaste is good for removing scuff marks on floors.

When you are cleaning with home made stuff you can always add some essential oils. Not just for smelling fresh; a few of them have cleaning properties as well. Tea tree oil is anti-bacterial, anticeptic, and anti-fungal. Great for kitchen and bathroom!

Hmm, vinegar instead of windex! I’m going to have to try that one.

Vinegar and baking powder can make your marble and other places of your home more clean and finished as compared to others. I tried it in last week.

I found that 1 part white vinegar and 1 part blue Dawn (the name brand) is a great tub cleaner. But the vinegar has to be hot when you mix it, so you’ll need a good spray bottle. then, just spray all around the tub and give it about 15 minutes.

Citric acid is also great for cleaning your bathrooms! I bet if you add it to hot vinegar it would be great! I always loved Dawn. I felt good about using it since it is gentle enough to clean animals.

Which, btw, if your pet ever gets a case of fleas bathe them with dawn and it kills the adults immediately, not the eggs though, so a daily bath with it is good. Also, wintergreen oil kills them. I have more elaborate info on that if anyone wants it just pm me :)
