Anybody ever alter their clothes themselves? I had a sweet western shirt but it was too wide for me, so I did a bit of sewing and now it’s a damn fine fit, and the ladies love it! Anybody else done anything similar? |

I have a pair of jeans (which I’m wearing right now, actually) that had a small hole in the right rear pocket and I tried patching up myself since they’re my favorite pair. I did an awful job and ended up making the hole way bigger. I don’t alter anymore. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

One time I had a favourite pair of jeans but I got the leg caught on something and tore a big rip up the one leg. Seeing as they were my favourite jeans I thought like you did and spent around an hour sewing them up. Then the next time I wore them I ripped both knees and had to stop wearing them full stop. |

It’s always tough replacing those jeans that “fit perfectly.” Even if you buy the exact same pair from the exact same store they never really fit the same. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

I have always tried to alter my jeans and pants. Never will I do that again. I have tried to make my pants/jeans skinnier by sewing the sides and I would end up making one leg wider than the other. I would alter it again and my legs would not even fit in the jeans anymore. The last time I altered anything was 4 years ago. Lesson learned. ” Do not alter jeans” Pants and other items are acceptable. Bakersfield, CA |

I altered a skirt more than once & it went from work appropriate to micro-mini in 60 seconds! Now I pay someone whom is a professional which was obviously not me! Miami/NYC, Florida & NY |

Altering clothes is like modding, you run the risk of fucking shit up real bad and having to re-format and reinstall your OS (buying a new pair of jeans) or fixing it up real good so that it runs well and then realizing your system just sucks (Damn these Wranglers, I want me some GAP jeans).
