Some people on here don’t have credit cards though, some are even too young to have them. The main thing to remember is swap sites are basically built on trust, and yes, some people will try to take advantage of that. You just really have to be careful with who you swap with and purchase items from. No matter how badly you want the item, I suggest def not sending cash to someone who has less than 100 or so positive karma. Blanco, TX |

but then this would sort of become ebay, and then it would almost be impossible to keep it free, since the credit companies charge for all transactions, so the people who came up with this site thought it out well and the karma distribution is the best way to go and keep it free i think~ plus im sure people would find a way to scam and say they never got stuff. True. I think there will always be people who are scumbags, that can’t be helped unfor. But I LOVE rehash just the way it is, the people who come her eot scam others just think they see an easy way to be a little sh*tty to others, and take advantage. Everyone just be very careful about your trades, sending first, and purchasing from people. Blanco, TX |

The credit card thing is not going to happen. How would you even valuate an item to know how much to charge? MSRP? What if it’s vintage? Condition matters as well. Too many variables. Rehash will never charge a dime or request any sort of billing information while it’s under my watch. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

I’d be worry about hackers trying to get the credit card info stored. Not that I don’t have faith that Orlando could keep it safe, but risk would be a bit much for me. Jefferson, Georgia |

i understand what you are saying but i am also a member on a book trading site and u supply ur card# and if you dont ship you are charged the value of the books, they are alot of swaplifters on this site now or people who send you damaged items, it would be nice if there was more things that could be done to these people b/c failing mail fraud does not work |

But like Orlando said earlier, how are you going to assign value? Variables like condition and quality make it difficult to assign a monetary value. What if someone decides to say they never got your end and decides to charge you even though they did? If you can’t prove that they got it, you’d have to pay. Or they could claim that the item wasn’t the quality they expected. I feel that adding the credit card would offer swaplifters thieves a whole new avenue to steal from other swappers. Our wonderful admins have changed how they handle swaplifters. Besides posting the swaplifter’s info on in the general discussion forum on a post made by Katie here, they are now also getting in touch with the other member. If that fails, then they are removing all rehashes and posting a swaplifter rehash on their page. They are also banning known swaplifters when they come back. Gladiz has also has a post up here explaining what to do if you think you’ve been swaplifted. It does suck. The best things to do is to follow the rule of less karma=ship first. But, as some of us have experienced, that doesn’t always help. Jefferson, Georgia |
