Five years ago I created Rehash with the goal of helping people get rid of the stuff they no longer want. Now, I’ve created something with the goal of helping people easily sell whatever they want, wherever they want, with as little hassle as possible. It’s called Sellies, and I would like all interested Rehashers to join the private beta testing. In a couple of days (maybe as early as tomorrow!) Sellies will be opening its doors ever so slightly and allow a few VIPs (that’s you guys) entrance to test out what I hope will be a valuable tool for everyone. To quickly explain how it works, you create an account and add things you’d like to sell. You can sell whatever you want (as long as it’s legal, of course) and then publish the product. Once it’s published, you can either link to the product directly or use the embedding tools to add it to your blog, site, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest—whatever you want. As for what it costs? Listing items is free. You can list as many things as your heart desires and never pay a dime. However, when you sell an item, we’ll take a small cut (currently 2.5% of the sale price + $1.50 for the first of an item sold). So if you sell a nice vintage tee for $30, the fee is $2.25, but then when you sell another one the fee is only $0.75. You get the idea. You receive the money directly from the buyer and there’s no credit card required from you. All you need is a PayPal account. So enough talk, here are a few screenshots. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

Nice!!! How would the shipping costs work there?? Currently you can enter a flat-rate shipping fee that gets included in the total (note the +shipping in the public Selly screenshot.) Flat-rate will work for most shipments if you’re using one of those USPS “if it fits it ships” boxes. However, I’m researching options so I can hopefully integrate a shipment calculator in there which will adjust the charge for the location it’s going. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |

BTW, this beta won’t start today as I had hoped. I need to wait for PayPal to approve my API request for live transactions which I submitted earlier. They “conditionally accepted” it, but it doesn’t authorize so I’m trying to get that sorted with them. Update – Just spoke to a PayPal rep who said the functions I use require a thorough approval process which takes between 10-15 days where they go through the app and my business model. Fun. It’s plugged into the Rehash user database so you won’t need to create an account, just log in with your existing credentials and it’ll generate your account like that. BISCAYNE PARK, FL |
