Has anyone else noticed the sudden influx of “Pay me for my stuff” that’s been popping up?

Postage in exchange for items is understandable. I guess I am just seeing more and more people saying something like “I don’t want to trade with anyone really, but you can buy it for (x) and pay shipping”. If that works for people, have at it… I guess it’s still recycling; someone else gets your stuff, you recycle their currency.

Yeah, it’s kind of a bummer. I like the holistic concept of trading stuff for stuff. Although I get around the “not having something” by buying/accepting gift cards from Starbucks, Target, Barnes & Nobles, etc…

I’ve been trying to encourage the people who are watching things of mine, but I am not interested in theirs to buying so I can continue trading. I don’t know if it’s so applicable for others, but I know I’m definitely feeling a crunch.

I came to this site because on swapstyle the majority of the girls were only selling. I thought it was called swapstyle cause you swap???? I like trading or swapping. That is the fun part, getting something new to you for something others do not want. I am all about the swapping.

I’m with you Lenna. Like I said, that’s fine for some, the buying and selling thing… but I am an addict here because all I pay for is shipping. When it comes to buying stuff online, I could do Ebay or Craigslist or something. I was just wondering if it was just me, or if others enjoy the thrill of the trade (hehe)

I have NO problem with people advertising that they also sell on other sites. But this site is for trading. If people post things that they are only willing to sell, it’s not as fun to surf through the new posts (because the things for sale are off limits for those of us who don’t buy new clothes often).

Yeah, I don’t approve with people selling things here. If they want to sell things, there is a website for that. It’s called ebay. Or, if this site ever becomes large enough to warrant selling, you should have to pay for the server space you use to advertise things you’ll get money for. I was attracted to this site because it was environmentally friendly, and hoped it would help people transition away from being consumer whores. Yes, designer names are fun, but perhaps we can re-cycle them instead of re-selling them?

i was surprised to find such requests myself. i came here to avoid that and just trade. hopefully, there are more of us traders than sellers here.

There really are. On a note, there is one UBER awesome chica that offered to purchase an item of mine, or pay for shipping (since it was costly), I refused and just asked to trade cool for cool. I think there are more people like that around here than otherwise.
