Hi. I’ve been experiencing a lot of the same problems that others have been complaining about, like errors and slow loading and whatnot. After talking about the errors in the site help and bugs forum, I saw that Orlando said this: “Weâ??ve long passed the point where the hardware is enough to hold up the site perfectly. At this point the only fixes are recoding the site again from the ground up or expanding the server hardware. The first is a matter of finding the time to do so and the other is a matter of my will to spend more money on a site where ad revenues are too low to cover the costs.” click here What can we do to help keep the site going? I love that there are no fees, but what other ways can we help Orlando generate revenue so we can afford more server hardware (sorry, I’m not a computer person so I have no idea what the proper terminology is). Does anyone know how much the average website gets when someone clicks on an add? Would it be fair to ask people click on a few ads? Or, would it be possible for those willing to donate to the site? i am game for clicking ads or a small fee or whatever we need to do to help the site and orlando. i think if we require a fee we will loose potential swappers. i am not a fan of swapstyle but maybe we could take an idea from them with the “address verification” aspect. it may help to cut down on swaplifting, maybe? also, i know times are tough and most of us are low on funds, but, it could be a neat idea to let our own members who have their own stores: etsy, ebay, gladiz’s store, etc., place an ad on here! on that note, i have always kind of wanted my own internet shop, and if i knew that i could advertise on here i may be more inclined to get that started. again, not sure about the logistics of stuff, but i’d be happy to have a % or flat rate amount come out of a purchase of my own goods from someone else, or from a purchase i made from a fellow rehasher, go to the pot for orly and the site as a whole. kristin, thanks for starting this thread. this has needed to be addressed for over a year now. getting the ball rolling in the right direction! i love rehash and it makes me sad when i cant get on… where it is hot and cold in the same season!, |

Thanks Beka! Like I said earlier, I like that there’s no fee associated with rehash. But, if there was a way we could donate to help the site, I think that would be awesome. I imagine if you message Orlando he would know how one could go about advertising on the site. Jefferson, Georgia |

I also like the idea of optional address verification actually. How about maybe t-shirts? |

I’d so rock a shirt :bomb: Also, we have all talked about an ap…how would something like that work? And could the ap fee help the main site? That’s probably too much work though! where it is hot and cold in the same season!, |

I think a t-shirt would be a great idea. What about doing a design contest? Before we get ahead of ourselves, though, does anyone know Orlando’s thoughts on this? After all, it’s his site. :-) Jefferson, Georgia |

What about an elite swappers group for older, trusted members? There could be requirements – like 150+ swaps with 100% positive karma. We would be paying a membership to be in the group and have a special badge on our page. Like a gold star or something cheesy like that? |

Creating an app and making t shirts are things that come with start up costs. If there isn’t money to begin with, how can an app or t shirts be made? The owner(s) of the site would have to be willing to pay out of pocket and then invest the funds back into the server and updating of the site. If that’s not possible, something like the above method may bring in some funding, but probably not much as it’s aimed toward a certain group of an already small community. |

yes, of course we need someone to be willing to put the money up first to do something (tees or app or whatever) and then turn it around and put it into the site. i dont’ think that the issue is lack of money. it is obvisously just a personal choice for orlando, and for him, it takes time too; which i think is another issue. putting the time into something in which he generates no personal revenue or anything (he doesn’t even swap :( orlando, if you are out there buddy, chime in please! where it is hot and cold in the same season!, |

My idea behind this post was to try to help come up with ideas for us to generate some income for the site. While a group like what was mentioned earlier might not be very big, it would be something. We could also try simply donating. I don’t know about y’all, but this site has not only given me a way to swap my clothes, but meet some pretty cool people as well. I don’t want to see it go down because we got to big and didn’t have the revenue to help keep it up. One thing I think everyone should try to do is click an ad every time you log on. My understanding of the whole ad thing is that every time someone clicks on one, Orlando gets some money. That’s a good place for us to start. Does anyone else have any ideas for how to raise funds for the site? Jefferson, Georgia |

Begin clicking now! I wonder if there is a way to find out how much he gets per ad click? I am personally willing add a few extra minutes to my time just spent checkingout those ads I’ve always wondered about! where it is hot and cold in the same season!, |

So…Orlando gets $ for every click we click on the ads? Or what? I never really understood that. Blanco, TX |

So…Orlando gets $ for every click we click on the ads? Or what? I never really understood that. That is correct, it could be up to $1 per every click. I believe that just for having an ad on a page that is accessed he also gets paid, but that’s a very small amount. |

Omg, I am still having problems browsing the website, being slow and all the things that have already been brought up in numerous topics. It’s strange but I was also kinda wondering since the site is messing up, if it may just go down one day (out of the blue) like a few of my old, favorite sites. There’s no other site like this I know besides swapstyle and I really like this site. If Orlando is willing to work on fixing the things brought up in topics with the site, I would gladly help donate to Rehash as well. This is a great idea! If it’s the $ part, I’d be glad to help in any way I can. Even if it’s $1 from each member or something idk. I know not everybody has paypal though so idk. I don’t want this site going down. Orlando if your reading this, don’t give up on this site, ask us rehash members for help cause we may be more willing to help than you think. Thanks! CRESCENT CITY, CA |

Ok so as far as the legalities of donations … I think there should be at least a disclaimer … “donations go towards… [booze? brownies?]. Donation does not imply any special standing or ownership of the site. Even a dollar helps.” |
