So if you saw my post in the forest a few days ago you’ll know that I am now engaged! YAY! :) Well the wedding itself isn’t going to be awhile. (My fiance is in the Navy and is leaving for deployment at the beginning of September)! But i’m already SUPER excited and wanting to figure out some of the stuff, because well who WOULDN’T want to start thinking about this stuff already? Curious if any of you have any awesome ideas? Old weddings things? Dresses, shoes, something old/blue/new, etc etc etc! Thank you! Spring Valley, CA |

To really feel the wedding rush … start a registry! Some ideas are amazon, macys, bloomingdales, williams sonoma. Also google wedding favors … that was one of my favorite things about planning a wedding. COngrats! |

Congratulations! It’s actually good that you’re planning already :-) a wedding takes quite a while to plan 6+ months. First (in my opinion) you have to pick who you want to be your maid of honor since she will be doing the planning with you and helping you get what you need together. |

Ahhhh…. picking a maid of honor! That will be a tough one. I’ve got a few “best friends”. We don’t hang out all that often. None of them which I feel super close to anymore. Our jobs, school, lives have gotten in the way of all that over time. I wish I had someone who could be there for me like that! Spring Valley, CA |

The best way to really choose someone who you won’t ever regret having as your maid of honor is someone in your family who you’re close to. Friends tend to come and go, just like you mentioned, but family is forever. I chose my cousin as my MOH and I’m so happy that I did because the person whom I considered to be my “best friend” at the moment turned out to be a real creep. I can’t imagine looking back at my wedding photos and seeing her…ick. JACKSONVILLE, FL |

are you having a formal wedding? chris and i didnt have anyone in those positions. his sister was the ring barer though. we didn’t have anyone standing with us and it was really nice! back to the formal/traditional question…if you are not having one or wearing white/cream isn’t important to you then i say start going to some flea markets and such. i bought a dress at a flea market in germany that i loved (black with red embroidery vintage russian gown) and i ended up wearing that for my wedding. i think it is really fun and important to hold true to your esthetic and not always worry about what has been done or what someone else wants you to do! i am super excited to hear your ideas progress….meanwhile why don’t we post some pictures of our wedding gowns ladies!!here is mine: / i can’t seem to get it to work….anyone? where it is hot and cold in the same season!, |

In some aspects I want a traditional wedding. Big white dress, flower girls, bridal party, blah blah blah. :) Neither of us is religious so it won’t be held in a church. I always dreamed October a fall wedding out in nature surrounded by beautifully colored leaves…. but we live in San Diego so that won’t happen. My other choice was on the beach maybe. I love the ocean! I’m a total Etsy addict, and have been looking at dresses on there recently. Found so many that I am absolutely in love with…. so I will probably get mine from there. :) Spring Valley, CA |

An idea that I really liked that I saw in a bridal magazine was to have local food trucks for between the ceremony and reception…it was a local magazine so it had all Rhode Island things like Dels frozen lemonade and the hot dog truck and there’s a stir fry truck and a taco truck (like ice cream trucks). I thought that was a nice idea although it could be expensive. Are you going to be doing a lot of DIY stuff for your wedding? I know when I get married (which is a ways off, I’m only a freshman in college) I definitely want to make my own invitations, and I think it would be fun to make centerpieces and favors (like use chocolate molds). That’s an interesting idea Nicole! We won’t be doing the “traditional” dishes that are at most weddings. You know, salmon/chicken/etc! Luckily my fiance and I have the EXACT same palette. We are pretty much the pickiest eaters in the world… think as picky as elementary school children (yes we really detest THAT many foods)! We will probably have an awesome buffet style wedding of finger foods/etc that we love! I saw a REALLY amazing idea on Etsy where it was like a pot luck and each guest brought some sort of food for everyone! I really love that idea, but like I said we are REALLY picky so we might not be into that idea as much. I am really young also (a sophomore in college) and our actual wedding won’t be for awhile. The exact date we are thinking? Haven’t even thought that far yet. Focusing on just us right now (especially since he is being deployed for 6 months like NEXT WEEK, :c). But I am already gushing over the entire Wedding section in Etsy. I’ve gotten a ton of cute ideas from there! Like I will be making my own wedding invitations instead of paying a calligraphy artist hundreds to do that! How? No clue yet, but I want my flair to be in every aspect of the wedding and reception! both of those food ideas sound so cool! i love food though and my hubby and i will eat almost anything! i love the idea of creating your own decor, invites, etc. we did that too. partly because we had a limited budget and partly because i love that stuff! also, renting a space where the money goes to something good (like your town or park that you love) is something memorable you’ll always be thankful for! where it is hot and cold in the same season!, |

Woo okay so I have my invitations out of the way! Got them at Micheal’s and they were on sale. Got the matching Thank You cards to go with, of course. Tried to get the link from the website but they don’t have them up! Poo. I also won not one, but TWO wedding dresses on Listia! and The first one I already received, and oh man it is so pretty. I feel like a Disney princess in it. All big and poofy! And it fits perfectly! Paid 6,000 credits for it + $14.00 for shipping (estimated at about $20.00). I found some stains on the bottom that she missed and so my credits were refunded! So a $14.00 wedding dress – all I have to do is take it to the cleaners and that baby is GOOD TO GO! The second one I am still waiting to receive. Something “happened” where the box was damaged so they sent it back to her? Yeah no idea… she didn’t even mark the end as sent originally and never gave me the tracking number even though she said she got DC! And she is supposed to be resending today… we’ll see how that goes. I used the Get It Now feature and spent 22,000 credits on it. So $22.00 for this dress. I really hope it gets here, I like it way better then the one I already have. At least from the pictures I think so. GAH I AM SO EXCITED AND I AM BABBLING AND IF YOU MADE IT THROUGH ALL THAT BULL THEN I LOVE YOU.   Spring Valley, CA |
